Screenrights is a non-profit copyright collecting society providing simple access to film and television, while ensuring payment to copyright owners for the use of their work.〔http://www.screenrights.org/about-us/what-we-do/overview〕 Since 1990, it has been appointed by the Australian Government to administer the provisions in the Australian Copyright Act 1968 that allow schools, TAFE colleges and universities to copy from television and radio provided they pay a royalty. Screenrights monitors copying, and distributes the royalties it collects to the copyright owners in the programs that are copied. Screenrights also administers the provisions in the Copyright Act that allow for the retransmission of free to air broadcasts by other services, such as pay television, and the provisions that allow for copying from television and radio by Australian government departments. In addition, Screenrights International can collect royalties being held for rightsholders in film and TV in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Latin America. Screenrights also has an online resource service that helps educators use television in teaching, called EnhanceTV. Screenrights offers a free monthly newsletter "Off the air".〔http://www.screenrights.org/about/offtheair/index.php〕 ==References==
